A Celebrity Break in

Automotive
Technology

As one of the stars of Spike TV's "Powerblock," Courtney Hansen (pictured here) works as a bona fide expert of high performance muscle cars, wild jet drag trucks. She's relaying industry savvy news and retrospectives on historic classic automobiles to viewers nationwide. So how did the drop-dead gorgeous femme get the gig on this manly TV program?
Don't let the mascara and long, shiny hair fool you. Her automotive technology roots run deep. It all started with her dad, Jerry Hansen, who raced cars in the amateur circuit. While dad was winning more national SCCA titles than any other driver, the pretty automotive tech to-be, was right behind him every step of the way. In fact, Courtney used to watch her dad entertain crowds while she carried a checkered flag in support.

The rest of Courtney's family was also in the automotive technology industry. They owned the Minnesota's Brainerd International Raceway, for one. It was only a matter of time until Courtney would go head first into the automotive technology industry. But first, she took a detour to pursue a modeling career. Her love for automotive technology never went away, however, as she became the spokeswoman for Dodge Motors in Florida, doing TV commercials for the automobile company.

With all the skills under her belt - including automotive technology and modeling -- Courtney didn't skip out on an education. She attended Florida State University and got a bachelor's degree in marketing. She soon became a marketing specialist, but quickly left the corporate world to pursue a career in the entertainment industry. Little did the world know that Courtney would combine her two passions -- showbiz and automotive.

With a strong mid-western work ethic, Courtney moved to Los Angeles, CA and became the success that landed her the role on "Powerbock." And there was more success where that came from. Add to her gig on "Powerblock," co-hosting The Learning Channel's hit show "Overhaulin," a show in which automobile designer Chip Foose and co-host Chris Jacobs "steal" someone's car with the help of a friend and fix the car up.

Her career is going to kick it into third gear when she hosts the highly anticipated FOX Sports' series, "Destination Wild," in the fall where she will be hands-on and knee-deep hosting exotic adventures around the globe. She may be white water rafting one episode and then bull riding the next. She may go back to her automotive technology skills and tear up the highways on motorcycles and such.

Besides TV, this showbiz automotive tech wrote a column for FHM Magazine. What was the topic? The high-profile service technician of sorts gives readers automotive advice as the columnist of the popular magazine's "Garage Girl." After hearing about Courtney's successes in the automotive technology industry, doesn't it make you want to work with cars? Put your career into first gear and enroll in an automotive tech school in order to become a service technician . and possibly a "garage" celebrity!
